Managing customer records

Customer records give LupinusBuild a starting point for organizing contact information and connecting that information to operational work such as projects and quotes.

Customer records

The Customers area stores customer identity, contact information, location, classification, status, notes, and related projects.

Customer records belong to the active company workspace so the customer can remain associated with the correct organization and the operational records that follow.

Add a customer

Open the Customers area and choose the option to add a customer. LupinusBuild opens the Add Customer form.

Required identity

Enter at least a first name, last name, or company name. You do not need to complete all three, but at least one must be present before the customer can be saved.

Complete the information that applies to the customer, select a customer type, and choose Save Customer.

New customer records are created with an Active status.

View customer details

Opening a customer record displays the latest saved customer information and projects associated with that customer.

Contact Information

First name, last name, company, email, and phone.

Location

City, state, and the combined display location.

Customer Status

Customer type and current record status.

Notes

Internal notes saved with the customer record.

Projects connected to a customer

The Customer Details screen contains a Projects section. Existing projects associated with the customer appear there and can be opened directly.

You can also choose Add Project from the customer record. LupinusBuild opens the project form with the current customer associated with the new project.

Connected workflow

This customer-to-project relationship is part of LupinusBuild's connected operational model: customer information remains associated with the work instead of being recreated after a project begins.

Edit a customer and change status

From Customer Details, choose Edit. The existing values are loaded into the Edit Customer form.

Update the necessary information and choose Save Changes.

When editing an existing customer, the Status field becomes available with three options:

ActiveInactiveArchived
Archived customers

Archived customer records are not returned in the normal company customer list.
